1. Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Wirral, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions can differ based on vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the time outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional requirements may apply as specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Wirral office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required. Please report any existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is expected that you return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the fuel level upon return matches that at collection; refueling fees will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will also be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, plus an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance plans are available to limit your financial liability, and reviewing these is recommended. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the insurance excess, except when additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. The vehicle cannot be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure the vehicle is not used for purposes it was not intended for, and adhere to all specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental fee you paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
